Small meet-up

WT, XQ and I met up yesterday. I think it has been almost 7 years since we've last met up. I was initially worried, I mean- 3 people, and some of us who couldn't click at all back then could meet up here - in such a small place ( Sg ) and talked bad about ( not revealing ...... :P)

And coincidentally CS actually arranged another Form 6 reunion at the same time and I missed it again.

Anyway, I felt really appreciative after meeting them. I mean, they're staying pretty far away , have work shifts and tonnes of work (that I heard that it's very usual for them to go back home every day after the cleaning lady comes at 10pm) and their effort to make this small meet-up a success was really sweet. (Reminds me of my Form 6 reunion when I went back weeks ago :D) In fact, to plan this small gathering took us one month!

As they always say, people change, things change, whatever it is, but definitely, time passes so quickly. Hearing how they struggle in the current workforce and dealing with everyday-life-is-like-that-or-worst situation makes me think hard. I don't know if it's because of the culture that changed certain people to like that.

It's like being forced to become like that but one is not accepting the forces to change, or perhaps slowly adopting it. Newton's law or whatever law just doesn't work. So in the end, that party struggles.

Bad? Good? I don't know. I still can see the coping-up stage of her though she's here for so many years already.

I just realised that many of us are like that.

So long~

Haw Par Villa

Another one..

Supposed to go this with LG but had to ffk her and went with my labmates on a last minute decision (nvm, we'll go second round!). It's always that last minute plans work out faster.. paiseh*
In fact, it's because of my junior who wanted to go and we were dead bored in the office..
Everyone wasn't in the mood of working on a beautiful Saturday and since that place is soooo near..we made the abrupt decision to go.

And it was very hot!

Since our boss went to Sungei Buloh Water Reserve this early morning.. and we all couldn't wake up that early (6am!!) to go there because we were all working very late yesterday night..
We compensated and went to another place =P

I brought my camera along but halfway through no battery as I did not charge.. *aiks
But it's okayla, I have some in my phone here..

These are from my phone's since I left my camera in the school.

Haw Par Villa, Pasir panjang was built by two brothers- Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par. This park was originally called "Tiger Balm Gardens". It was constructed in 1937 by the brothers, whom were the developers of Tiger Balm, as a venue for teaching traditional Chinese values. The Aw family eventually sold the Gardens to the Singapore Tourism Board in 1979.

They believed in contributing back to the society from their earnings and thus, they built this to educate people. It was also stated that they actually sold the tiger balms at a very low price so that the lower-income groups can afford to buy those too.

Visiting this park made me think about how respectful the younger ones to the elder ones, from the memorial altar that they've built. The highest were of their parents', followed by the elder brother (Aw Haw) and then the younger brother (Aw Par). No pictures on altar =(

Their parents were involved in using herbs as medicinal medicine and what their father earned a month in China was what the brothers earned in a day here! Their Tiger Balm was sold in over 70 countries that time!

The mansion on this park that Aw Par designed. However, it was demolished because it was not properly maintained after his demise in 1944 by his elder brother, Aw Haw.
The God of Earth

In the courts of hell

Tadaa... the entrance into the dark exhibition..

First court of hell: King Qinguang
Each prisoner is judged here at a preliminary stage where good ones are distinguished from the evil ones. Those with good deeds that outweigh evil deeds will be sent to Silver Bridge to be sent to the paradise.

We went through all the 10 courts of hell where they showed various punishments in hell due to misdoings during the lifetime.. These were some of the captured pictures. My camera was already battery dead this time =(

This one was left stranded outside..

What I'm very inspired is the very close relationship between the Aw Haw and Aw Par siblings=)
And how they tried to contribute back to the society..

We should never forget our past!

Postcards from Singapore - Esplanade

I'm in blogging mood right now so better post some stuffs up (and procrastinating things that I'm supposed to do! =P)

I went for this last week..
http://www.esplanade.com/whats_on/programme_info/postcards_from_singapore/index.jsp#tabs and realised that they have another very nice event soon!

It's another symphony on Yesterday Once More by NUS Symphony! =D

After the patriotic symphony of about 1 hour, we left and walked around Esplanade.

In fact, I didn't bring my camera along and thus, have to utilise my handphone..and the photos turned out to be *no eyes see*
I didn't know that nokia camera is worst than Sony's! Eeeee..

My fave pic!
Only these two 'Singa's are different from the rests (they had these 'huggies' lined up in Esplanade for the National Day month and each carries a different message on Singapore). This girl is a tourist currently residing in Spain and will be here for a month. And so, we posed..

Home..the theme for this month's events in Esplanade

We walked and walked until dinner time. And so, these were what we saw..

A huge black fat pigeon

And kids trying to jump into the river

Crabs waiting to be cooked

And we we saw some local young bands performing rock and roll as well as pop. What's interesting is that this man of age 50 ++ to 60 ++ could dance in every alternate song sung! He was the guy of attention that day. His wife was at the side there watching and supporting him and.. he's a really a good dancer!!
In addition, this young man was also dancing along..so cuteee!! (how I wish I have a better camera that time)

Looking forward the September event.. =)

If today was your last day

Ever wondered what if today was your last day?

What will you regret of not doing?

I always tell people to live life the fullest and as if today's the last day, but I doubt if I can do it also ..

On a beautiful Saturday and I'm stranded here doing work that seemed not that smooth since morning..
Even my protocols ran off..
Adoi..

Anyway, I spent most of the time in the lab listening to this over again and again..

The lyrics are meaningful so do enjoy it!

New semester

Sorry for not updating :P

Just came back from a hectic back-home visit..
Busy until my mom even complained : "how come so few hours at home?? and next time should take longer leave"
lol..
Coz we rushed to so many places within that few hours at home..
And again, we couldn't settle some stuffs but I'm leaving those to them to settle
=P

In fact got lotsa stuffs to blog but because I'm always stranded in my office.. (reasons :P) so I didn't bother to blog much..

This week is a new week for me..
New semester, new modules, new lecturers, new places to attend classes..and some classes are just located to farrrr away...that I got 'sesat'
And luckily my junior was there to guide me there :P

And really have to behave more 'guai'
I just realised that my juniors are learning everything from us (the so-called one-semester senior:P)
We were talking today on lab meetings and I accidentally mentioned that if we have classes to clash the meetings, then we'll skip the meetings
Then my junior actually said "so, I should take classes to purposely clash with the lab meetings right? You said one?? "

Aiks..
See la.. when blind leads the blind..
definitely all will end up in accidents.. (langgar walls)

Oh yeah.. in fact, I'm pretty shocked with how we all over here have to 'rampas' courses just like back in UPM..
Not to say being kiasu but I think we're slowly adopting that habit
Sigh
*still conscious*

But we were rewarded somehow with that rush
Seemed that we were lucky enough that we managed to squeeze into every module that we had registered.. and when we attended the classes, they were just so many students!! Reminds me of those undergraduate classes
What's more is that we'll see students approaching the lecturers and wondering whether they can still apply to attend those classes or not and yup, I was one of them too!

Imagine attending courses when the amount of students are just like during our undergraduates
# too many students dy
=.="

I'm looking forward to tonight's http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/8/13/nation/4512308&sec=nation (thanks YW!!) hopefully can see.. missed yesterday's one..:P
We see together la ha..hehe
Same sky..

So long~
